YOUR ROOM, REIMAGINED

What Is Room Decorator AI?

An AI room decorator is software that redecorates a photo of your own room: it keeps the room and changes its colors, furniture and decor. It uses artificial intelligence to read the photo and generate a new look, so you can explore an idea without drawing the room yourself.

The tool supports interior design by bringing colors, materials and furniture together in a real photo of your space. Instead of imagining whether a warm wall color works with a light wood floor, you can see the combination and compare it with another direction.

A renovation can be previewed with the tool, helping you choose a direction before you plan bigger changes or start shopping. The sections below explain how to use it, what it can change, what the plans include and how to get better results from your photo.

FROM PHOTO TO POSSIBILITY

How to Redesign a Room with AI

Using an AI room decorator app takes four steps. The AI reads your photo and aims to preserve the room’s floor plan, keeping walls, windows and doors in place while generating new surfaces, furniture and decor. Review each result to check that the room’s structure remains consistent.

  1. 01Upload a photo

Upload a room photo taken straight on in daylight, with the whole space in view. Both furnished and empty rooms work; a clear photo gives the AI more information about your room’s existing features.

  2. 02Choose your direction

Pick Modern, Japandi or Industrial to set a starting direction. If you prefer text to design, skip the style and describe the change in your own words. The tool accepts your text prompt alongside the photo.

  3. 03Generate and compare

Generate a preview and compare it with your original photo. Try another style or adjust your description, then compare the options side by side to see which colors, materials and furniture feel right for your room.

  4. 04Refine the details

Continue in AI Studio to edit selected details with short text instructions. Focus on a particular piece, finish or color, keeping the elements you like while exploring a more specific version of your first idea.

Start with one AI decorator room preview, then repeat the steps for the next room, using what you learned to make your instructions clearer.

SMALL CHANGES. A DIFFERENT FEEL.

What You Can Change in a Room

AI Studio works on the visible layer of a room: surfaces, furniture and decor. Compare different directions before choosing the details you want to bring into your own space.

01 / SURFACES

Colors, materials and finishes

AI can change wall color and preview other flooring or countertop materials in your own photo. Try a coordinated palette with a single accent color, then compare it with a second palette. Keep the furniture consistent while you explore finishes, so it is easier to see how each surface changes the overall feel of the room.

02 / THE DETAILS

Furniture and decor

AI can replace a piece of furniture in the photo, such as a sofa or a table. You can also add a rug or lamp, or remove an object, with a short instruction like “replace the sofa with a green velvet one”. Compare a few versions to decide which shapes, colors and details work with the rest of your room.

Empty rooms

AI Studio can furnish an empty room in the style you choose. For an apartment, plan the furniture and colors on a photo of the room first and decide what is needed. Try a few arrangements as visual concepts, then check measurements in a floor plan before choosing real furniture or committing to a purchase.

Rooms and Styles to Try

Choose a room and a look to start with; each option below takes a single photo.

Planner 5D room design example

Living room

An AI living room decorator preview shows a new sofa, rug or wall color in your own living room. For a living room redesign, start with the largest piece, usually the sofa, and generate two or three versions. Keep the rest of the room as it is and change one thing at a time, so the differences are easy to see.

Bathroom finishes and vanity inspiration

Bedroom, kitchen and bathroom

In a bedroom, try a different wall color, furniture and decor to see how the pieces work together. In a kitchen, preview cabinet colors, countertop materials and flooring while keeping the room’s structure in view. In a bathroom, explore tiles, a new vanity or wall color to compare a few coordinated directions before deciding on your next steps.

Modern, Japandi and Industrial

AI room decorator styles in Planner 5D AI Studio include Modern, Japandi and Industrial. A modern room design uses clean lines, neutral colors and few decorative details, helping the main furniture shapes stand out without crowding the space. Japandi combines Japanese minimalism with Scandinavian warmth, using light wood, muted colors and a restrained mix of comfortable textures throughout the room. Industrial explores raw materials such as brick, concrete and dark metal, which you can balance with softer textiles and warmer accents to suit your own space.

Tips for Better Results

A room redesign gives better results when both the photo and the request clearly show what you want.

  1. A dark or blurry photo gives an unclear result. Take the photo in daylight with the lights on, hold the camera steady and check the image before uploading.
  2. A cropped photo hides parts of the room. Stand in a corner or at the door and keep the whole room in view, from floor to ceiling.
  3. A vague request gives a generic result. Name the colors, materials and objects you want in the text field, including anything you would like to keep unchanged.
  4. Several changes at once make results hard to compare. Change one thing per generation, review the difference, then combine the versions you like into a clearer direction.
  5. A generated piece of furniture can differ in size from the real one. Measure the room and the piece before you buy, allowing enough space for movement.

Can I use an AI room decorator free of charge?

You can start at $0: the Planner 5D Free plan has no time limit. Generating designs in AI Studio uses credits, which come with the Premium and Professional plans, so check the plans above for what each one includes.

Will the AI keep my existing furniture?

To keep a piece of furniture, name it in your description, for example “keep the grey sofa and change the wall color”. Results can vary between generations, so create two or three versions and keep the one that fits your room.

Do I need design experience?

No. Upload a photo, pick a style or describe the change in plain words, and review the result. If it is not right, adjust the description and generate again as many times as your credits allow.

Is the generated image a plan of my room?

No, it is a concept image. To work with real dimensions, build the room in Planner 5D in 2D and 3D and place furniture from the catalog, which has 10,000+ items on the Premium plan.

Can I start from something other than a photo?

Yes. AI Studio can also start from a reference image, a sketch or a floor plan, and then continue with the same editing tools.
