Planner 5D: Redefining Home Management Through Immersive Design Tech
Alexey Sheremetyev shares how Planner 5D has emerged as one of the most influential digital platforms helping people manage and visualize their living environments
Planner 5D’s evolution into a full-spectrum home design and management platform is best told by the person who helped build it. Today, we’re talking with Alexey Sheremetyev, Planner 5D’s co-founder and Chief Product Officer, fresh off his TechRound interview on how Planner 5D helps millions manage their homes more effectively.
Planner 5D: Your recent TechRound interview highlighted Planner 5D's shift from design tool to full home management platform. What defines this transformation at its core?
Alexey Sheremetyev: We're building Planner 5D as a living digital twin of the home - the one that doesn't just visualize spaces but actively supports every stage of ownership, from renovations to daily upkeep. Users return to it repeatedly, treating it as their home's central hub rather than a one-off project file... The goal is for Planner 5D to feel like an always-on co‑pilot for the home management.
Planner 5D: What does that digital twin unlock for homeowners in practical terms?
Alexey: It becomes a persistent, structured memory of the home: what was built, which materials were used, what has changed, and what is planned next. On top of that, we are layering AI services that help with everything from planning renovations and estimating budgets to coordinating with contractors and tracking upgrades over the years.
Planner 5D: AI is already embedded in features like floorplan recognition, furniture placement, home documents management. How do you see its role expanding as we move into full home management?
Alexey: Today, AI helps people run their home smarter. That means forecasting the impact of a remodel on space usage, suggesting more efficient layouts as a family grows or starts working from home more, and eventually even tying into real-world data to recommend maintenance or efficiency improvements. We recently launched Neighborhood Pulse - a new feature powered by AI that alerts you to new activity around your home, so you’re aware of any construction planned right around the corner.
Planner 5D: Internally, we often describe the Planner 5D as “one source of truth for the home.” What does that mean for users?
Alexey: It means you do not need separate tools for design, project planning, and documentation. You open Planner 5D, and everything is there: your plans, 3D views, project notes, shopping lists, and history of changes, all aligned to the same accurate model. That single source of truth is the foundation that lets AI reliably assist with both everyday decisions and major renovations.
Planner 5D: Another new "Spaces" feature seems pivotal here. How does it turn the platform into a comprehensive home repository?
Alexey: Spaces reimagines the app as your home's personal archive. You can upload and organize all key documents - like warranties, blueprints, inspection reports, and even photos of fixtures - directly tied to specific rooms or areas. It creates a structured, searchable knowledge base so nothing gets lost when planning changes or troubleshooting issues. No more app-switching or scattered notes. Open Planner 5D and your documents, bills, AI advice, and neighbourhood context are all there, evolving with your home. Renovate? Update Spaces. Bills spike? Get instant fixes. It's always-on management that anticipates needs before they become problems.
Planner 5D: Five years from now, what role do you envision for Planner 5D in daily life?
Alexey: The default interface for homeownership—an AI-native platform where any life change (new job, family milestone, efficiency push) starts with updating your Spaces and getting hyper-relevant plans. With features like Neighbourhood Pulse and bill-integrated advice, it won't just manage your home; it'll help it thrive alongside your community and lifestyle.
