maria, i use the magic cube: 4 to 5 feet wide, 24 inches deep and 6 inches high. first step starts on floor and after that stack each one in 6 inch increments, going up the step half way. this creates the stair rise. the stair railing are made from stretching a vase to look like a spindle. the hand rail is made with magic cube and shift key plus arrow to desired angle. have fun, joy
