From this vantage point, you used to see into the bathroom, which looked like it was at the end of a dark tunnel. Most of the kitchen was obscured by the imposing counter space on the left as well as the closet on the right. Now you can see the entire kitchen. The flow from the kitchen space to the living room is interrupted only slightly by the now downsized half bathroom (laundry has been relocated to basement.)
