Layered Lighting for White Bathrooms
The lighting board separates mirror, ceiling, shower, vanity and ambient light. A white room still needs each of those areas considered on its own; reflective surfaces do not automatically make the light comfortable.
Designer tips
The face and the room need different light
Check mirror lighting from the basin and ceiling lighting from the doorway. A bright floor or countertop does not tell you whether the light on your face is even.
A gentle background after dark
Consider a separately controlled low-level or concealed light with your installer. Keep it soft enough for an evening setting while retaining a brighter task-light option for the mirror.
Reflections checked before the final fitting
Look for bright points reflected in the mirror or shower glass from normal standing positions. A different shade or adjusted fitting position can make more difference than simply adding another light.
