Make it work in your room

A rounded upholstered bed works well with a small circular table. Here, the table’s scalloped base picks up the curved outline of the bed.

Keep the larger furniture cream and add pink through the curtains, rug and bedding. If you want a quieter version of this room, start with the throw and cushions.

Use a bow cushion or flower-shaped pillow as the playful detail on the bed. Add plain cushions behind it rather than a whole set of novelty shapes.

Fold a chunky knit throw across the lower half of the bed. Against smooth ivory bedding, the knit stands out without hiding the rounded headboard.

Choose bedside lights, drawer handles and a picture frame in a similar gold tone. These small touches are enough to connect the furniture and wall decor.

What to avoid

Avoid adding bows and flower motifs to every surface. The cushions already make the coquette theme clear; plain curtains and abstract artwork give them room to stand out. Keep the small table mostly clear so there is space to use it.
